- : O.k.
- :
- : I will Do that, But I do not have the instructions for the IDE card. So I do
- : not know what pins to change.......
-
- Where did you get the card? I was under the impression that you bought it
- new. If so, there should be instructions. If not, perhaps you could
- provide the manufacturer and card name and someone here will have the
- instructions. On many cards, the pins are clearly labeled but I realize
- that is not always the case.
-
- : I can go through all 18 (?) pin and fiddle with them for a few a while...

- : 18 pins..how many combinations are there ? :)

- : ---- Update-----
- :
- : I opened the machine up again... I still have yet to figure out how to disable
- : the com2: on the IDE board. ..But I did, after reading a few other posts try
- : the modem on Com4: and the rodent on com1: .. Well It works kinda...I guess
- : there is not as many port conflicts on C4 as in C2 .. (I thought they had
- : the same IRQs ..COm1= Com3...Com2=Com4 ) It works partially, It does hang up
- : on a system and it says it on-line all the time, but the mouse does move
- : around a little...
-
- If the mouse is on com1 and the modem is on com3, you will have IRQ
- conflicts since they both use IRQ4. Putting the modem on Com4 or
- configuring com3 to use IRQ5 (or an unused IRQ) will work also.
- The problem you have with it saying it is online all the time has nothing
- to do with your com port choice, that is your modem configuration probably.
-
- : Well I am going to disable the com2 on the IDE.. If I can figure out what pins
- : need to be flipped.. If you can help or tell me how to do it!
-
- Not without knowing what the card is and who made it. If you can find
- that out, you can call 1-800-555-1212 and see if the manufacturer has an
- 800 number to call. Otherwise, maybe someone else has the same card and
- can help in some way.
